An
important crossroads :
Notre-Dame-du-Nord is located at the crossroad of Rouyn-Noranda to the
north (100 km), Ontario to the west (2 km) and the center of Témicamingue
to the south (Ville-Marie, 35 km). This important aspect was certainly
a factor that influenced the choice of the town for the establishment
of two trucking enterprises and an important trailer building industry
(Témisko).
Timiskaming
First Nation :
This Indian reserve of around 520
inhabitants is located at the north limit of the town. For decades,
the Timiskaming First Nation has been known for its pride and vitality.
Notre-Dame-du-Nord and the Timiskaming First Nation Band Reserve are
so close they are like twins, meeting, collaborating and doing business
together everyday. The proximity of the two communities allows exceptional
cultural exchange and mutual enrichment. Also, together they obviously
constitute a bigger market for business.
The
"Promenade Tête-du-Lac" sidewalk by the Lake and River:
An impressive construction (1200' long x 12' wide) running along the
Des-Quinze river and Lake Timiskaming shore, the Promenade allows Citizens
and visitors an exceptional contact with nature. Built in 1990, the
sidewalk is a remarkable link between the center of the town and the
natural environment.

The
Truck Rodeo:
The biggest and greatest truck festival in Canada, where once a year,
more than 600 trucks and 50 000 visitors gather for half a week of music,
truck races and fun.Since the first edition all the way to the 19th
in 1999, the Truck Rodeo has kept a steady and constant growth. For
the 19th edition, the annual Super Draw distributed 380 000$ in prizes
such as a Peterbilt Truck, 2 Harley-Davidson motorcycles, a Volkswagen
New-Beetle and a Ford F-250 pickup.

A
special climate:
Two factors contribute to the unique climate
of Notre-Dame-du-Nord: the proximity of the Lake Timiskaming and the elevation above sea level allows a mild and moderate
climate.
