Notre-Dame-du-Nord benefits from a micro-climate, due mostly to the proximity of the Lake Timiskaming. The temperature is no more rude than in the urban centres in the south. There is however a strong contrast between seasons: a nice Summer, sunny and warm, and a white and cold Winter.

The Témiscamingue area is full of forests and large fields, with a tree population comparable to the Ottawa River region. Big lakes and long rivers are all over the place, in addition to the Lake Timiskaming and Ottawa River, which are part of the Témiskawa Waterway.

The territory is very well suited to agriculture, with its rich soils. 65% of the lands of the municipality are occupied by agriculture.
